Most of our music for film and regular music CDs are recorded and mixed in house at Three Springs Studio. When we have special mastering and conversion needs we use Ardenwood Sound & DVD. When we have special recording needs we use Cobalt Recording Studios.

Logic 9 is our Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) of choice because of its long list of great integrated plug-ins and wonderful composer's environment for complex midi and audio editing. We run logic node on our 3 computers so they can be separate workstations or grouped together to create a powerful integrated workstation.
We have the equipment to compose and mix a project in stereo (i.e. Timeless City) or 5.1 surround (i.e. Living Death Valley).
A list of our pertinent gear:
Computers – 24” IMAC-2.8GHz Intel Core2 Duo, and 2 Macbook Pros-2.33Ghz Intel Core2 Duo
Interfaces – MOTU Ultralite for 5.1 surround, Apogee Duet for high quality stereo
Monitors – BlueSky mediadesk stereo and 5.1 surround monitoring
Microphones - we have an array of quality large & small diaphragm mics

Sometimes many of our film scores and other music tracks are completely real instruments and sometimes they are combined with virtual instruments to create interesting hybrids. We strive for all of our music to sound natural and organic even when we combine these diverse elements. When using real instruments below are the sources we draw from:
John Kilburn – 7 string classical, acoustic, electric & jazz guitars, 10 string lapsteel, electric bass, mandolin, mandola, cavaquinho, ukelele, native flutes, piano, vocals
When projects call for soloing instrumentalists, John works with a number of players:
Woodwinds (Gene Doi & others) - soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, flute, clarinet
When budget projects call for real classical instruments, we use players from The Fresno Philharmonic:
Woodwinds – flute, alto flute, piccolo, clarinet, oboe, english horn,
Strings – violin, viola, cello, bass
Percussion & Drums –we have 2 great drum kit, djembe, tablas, various percussion players on call.
Vocals & percussion - in house we have Paola Staeblein – vocals, Brazilian percussion (pandeiro, tamborim, berimbau, shakers) and Sofia Nazaretian – vocals, djembe, various percussion
World Instruments – we have access to a variety of world instrument players including Middle-Eastern, Asian, and Southeast-Asian instrumentalists
