Bio of Sofia
Nazaretian
Sofia was born in the land of ancient
Armenia with a strong rooted question mark
on her forehead. The question as you may
have guessed is "Who are we?"
Her quest for the essence of life has
inspired her to create art, music and
poetry since her early years, expressing
the ever-present longing of the heart to
feel connected, in love. Her inquiries into
the nature of existence and "the self" have
manifested themselves in the poems
published in Armenian media at the age of
14.
The road has taken Sofia through various
parts of the world, where she lived in
temples following a lifestyle of service
and communal living. Acquainting
herself with cultures, their ways of living
and perceiving reality, the constant
transformation of personal outlook in this
tireless seeking has led Sofia to get in
touch with her authentic relationship with
Being and, as this understanding deepened
through the years, the reflections appeared
in the art she created.
In the beginning of the millennium, while
residing in the San Francisco Bay Area,
Sofia found herself captivated by the
electronic dance scene and quickly became a
popular DJ, under the name Rasa, pleasing
the crowd at outdoor festivals, indoor
clubs and events such as Burning Man. A
common trait for Sofia, it was the
simplicity of the beat that, like the
heart, sustained a whole dance floor full
of people like one giant breathing
organism.
Presently, the journey is leading
her further into creating and
transforming art in various media,
realizing the long-lived dream of living in
wilderness, sharing the path of the
heart, while exploring the arising
dimensions of Being.
